PCSO earmarks P3.4M for
Sta. Catalina residents
BY RENE GENOVE

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has allotted almost P3.4 million for the health insurance of more than 5,000 poor individuals and families in Sta. Catalina, Oriental Negros.

PCSO officer Sergio Valencia, in his letter to Mayor Leon Lopez of Sta. Catalina recently, said the funds will be paid to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation as counterpart of the municipality to enroll more than 5,000 poor individuals and families in it.

Valencia said the aid is in line with Republic Act No. 7875, the Act Instituting a National Health Insurance Program and Establishing the Philippine Health Corporation.

Lopez said PhilHealth and PCSO will set into motion an efficient health care financing and delivery program for the poor through the local government.

PhilHealth will help enroll beneficiaries of the program and assured prompt disbursement of funds to pay the claims of accredited health facilities or qualified beneficiaries.*RG
