Dumaguete-bound
plane's tires burst

MANILA -- Four international flights were diverted and domestic flights suffered delays at the Manila airport yesterday when two tires of a Cebu Pacific jet bound for Dumaguete City, Oriental burst while taxiing on a runway, authorities said.

None of the 100 passengers and crew were hurt in the incident, which left the DC-9 jet blocking the runway.

Arriving flights from Cathay Pacific, Eva Air, Jetstar and Asiana Airlines were forced to divert to the former US air base of Clark, north of Manila. NAIA officer Manny Rodriguez, said the runway was cleared at about 1:25 p.m. and operations at the airport returned to normal after the plane was removed off the runway, ABS-CBN reported.*AFP
