Return P1M in
jewelry, pianist asks
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Renowned pianist Leonor Kilayko yesterday said she will drop her complaint of theft lodged before the police against a "caregiver" of her father if he returns the jewelry taken from her home.

Kilayko of Mabini St., Brgy. Zone-12, Talisay City, had earlier filed a complaint before the Talisay police against Joseph Matarong, 23, a caregiver of her father Ramiro Kilayko, for the alleged loss of more than P1 million in jewelry from her home which she discovered in January.

Kilayko said in a police blotter report that among the missing jewelry were solitaire diamond earrings worth P100,000, diamond ring worth P500,000, dangling diamond with pearl worth P350,000, gold bracelet - P8,000, ring with diamond - P15,000, small diamond pendant with gold - P10,000, champagne earrings - P26,000, earrings - P12,000, gold necklace chain - P5,000, pearl earrings with diamond and gold, gold earrings - P18,000, and a silver bracelet with diamond - P28,000. She alleged in the blotter that Matarong was the only one who could open the door of her bedroom even without a key.

Kilayko told the police she believes the missing jewelry were taken while she was in Manila in December.

She also said Matarong could no longer be located at his home last week.

PO2 Reynaldo Panes, of the Talisay police Theft and Robbery Section, said when they interrogated Matarong he denied that he had taken the items and they can not file charges against him because of the lack of an eyewitness to prove that he took the items although it appeared that he was the only one who had access to the items in the Kilayko house.*CPG
