A couple who allegedly broke into a grocery store in the public
market in Poblacion, Siaton town, Oriental Negros, have recently
been charged with robbery.
Police identified the couple as Elvito Liman, 40, a trisikad
driver and his wife Marlie Calihan, 35, residents of Poblacion 3,
Siaton.
Allan Verador, a guard at the public market, said he was patrolling
in the market before midnight when he saw the couple coming out
from the grocery store. Verador said he immediately confronted them,
but Liman turned away. He, however, became more suspicious when
the woman signaled her husband to run.
The guard said he chased and caught Liman and brought the
couple to the police station.
An inventory of the items in the store, showed that the couple
had stolen P1,300 worth of grocery items from it.
Investigations further showed that the couple had entered
the store by destroying its padlock.*RG
