The National Food Authority in Oriental Negros has opened the
use, for rent, of its electronic truck scale that can weigh a maximum
of 60 tons and is the first in the province.
NFA assistant provincial manager Francisco Lorico said, the
food agency bought the equipment to weigh NFA imported rice assigned
to the province.
Lorico said that, starting this year, cargo haulers including
handlers of livestock, can rent the truck scale at a fee of P5 for
every ton weighed.
He explained that weight measurements for small cargoes might
not be accurate in isolated cases because the truck scale was designed
for heavy capacity load. But it guarantees to measure exact weight
because it is electronic-generated and the results could not be
changed as receipts issued are computerized.
He said the electronic gadget has saved money for NFA that would
have gone into renting private weighing scales.*
