Hidalgo to take
'sensitive' post
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Chief/Insp. Manuel Hidalgo started his new post yesterday as operations officer at Camp Francisco Fernandez in Agan-an, Oriental Negros, after relinquishing his post at the Dumaguete police office.

PNP provincial director Sr. Supt. Omar Buenafe said he needs the experience and expertise of Hidalgo in the entire police force of the province in relation to their aim of keeping the city as a show window of the province in terms of peace and order.

Buenafe said the state of peace and order in Dumaguete will be perceived as that of the entire province.

Hidalgo received a plaque of recognition for meritorious service during the last 14 months of his stint in Dumaguete. He was credited for 40 arrests of personalities involved in different crimes, had served 95 warrants of arrests and jailed several violators of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, or Republic Act 9165.

Hidalgo also received a commendation from the city anti-drugs council for his relentless campaign against illegal drugs in Dumaguete.

He said his biggest frustration while in Dumaguete was the non-cooperation of the victims, which resulted in the withdrawal of cases.*JG
