BBC ousts Tangub;
AMG cagers move on

Relying on its steady run and gun game, third-ranked BBC handily beat Tangub, 109-89, Thursday night, while AMG Pawnshop-Summit outplayed Davies Hardware, 94-83, in the first phase of the quarterfinals of the 6th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

The win allowed BBC to forge a matchup with Mambukal Summer Resort in the second game at 7:45 tonight with the winner advancing to the semifinals Monday. Summit will face Bracket B No. 2 Magnolia Nutri-oil in the first game

BBC jumped the gun on Tangub, opening up a 30-19 spread at the end of the first period, before Immuvit Player of the Game Bobot Divinagracia, Robert Buņol and Nono Pugoy took turns in breaking down the defense for a comfortable 78-65 advantage heading into the final canto. Divinagracia finished with 14 points, the same output with Joebert Pastias, while Rico Cabatu and Allan Jaena contributed 10 each for the West Negros College-based team. Elmer Santander posted 19 to lead Tangub.

AMG turned to Immuvit Player of the Game awardee Jessimar Gabihan, who exploded for 25 points, including 15 in the first period. Gabihan, a former varsity standout, finished off Davies with timely baskets in the final period, where he scored 10 more points.

With Summit clinging to a 42-34 lead at the break, Salvador Bonza and Arvin Gustilo frolicked in the third period to give AMG a commanding 68-54 lead.

Antonio Rogacion finished with 15 points to pace, Davies while Manny Merelos added 9. *CPT
