5 teens rob resto
Two employees of the Pavilion Hotel and Restaurant
in Bacolod City reported to Police Precinct 1 that five teenagers
waylaid and held them up at the Bacolod reclamation area at Burgos
Street in the city at about 12:30 a.m. yesterday.
Mar Robles Ortega, 34, married, of Brgy. Matab-ang,
Talisay City and Milagros Mahipos Esparagosa, 38, of Ibarra Street,
Silay City both in Negros Occidental, said they were on their way
home when the five teenagers armed with tube pipes blocked them
and held them up, police reports said.
The group grabbed Ortega's bag that contained
P9,000 in cash and important documents, and Esparagosa's bag with
P1,200 also in cash, police reports said.
Three of the boys, aged 16 to 17 were later arrested
by the Police Precinct 1, City Mobile Group, Crime Monitoring Action
Group and Traffic Management Unit and who were identified by the
complainants as among those who held them up.
Two of the three claimed they were students of a
public high school in the city but denied involvement in the crime.
They said a certain "Richie" and his companions invited them to
stroll at the Bacolod reclamation, but they had no idea about the
plan of the group to commit a crime.*DMG

Ilahas
seizes 4 boat
hulls in Hinobaan
The Task Force Ilahas, assisted by operatives of
the Maritime Command and policemen, yesterday confiscated four "boat
hulls" made of lauan, estimated at 200 board feet, in Brgy. Culipapa,
Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.
SPO1 Stanley Mendoza, a TFI member, yesterday
said the hulls were confiscated from Romeo Malunes, Simplico Macabinguil,
Johnny Macahindog and Wilfredo Yunsay, all residents of the barangay.
TFI investigations show that the "lauan" timber, converted into
boat hulls, had been sold by a certain "Bolantoy" for P11,000 to
the four persons on Feb. 27.
Mendoza said the lauan timber was reportedly
cut from a reforestation project in Sitio Semeco, Brgy. Culipapa,
Hinobaan.
The hulls are now in the custody of Purok President
Gaudioso Tindero.*GPB
