Officers of
UNOFELA to be inducted

The new officers of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Faculty and Employees Labor Union of UNO-R in Bacolod City will be inducted today by Joe Max Ortiz, a press release from the group said.

The 2006-2010 officers are Antonio Gargarita - president, Winnie Estares - vice president, Dr. Nena Samillano - secretary, Ruby Ravelista - treasurer, Alma Lopez - auditor, Eden Galve - public information officer, Robert Villaruz and Jose Caballero - sergeants-at-arms, and board of directors Ivy Aboy, Jelyn Gaspillo, Connie Po, Dennis Madrigal, Ma. Azela Devilla, Judy Mendoza, Conrado Romales and Freddie Parreņo, the press release added.*

'Mass Media Mindset'
gab set in Iloilo today

"Mass Media Mindset," a conference of MassComm students and professionals in Iloilo City will be held by Mass Communications graduate students of West Visayas State University in Iloilo City today, a press release from the group said yesterday.

The conference theme is "A New Challenge to Mass Communications in Western Visayas: Making Media More Responsive and Responsible," Ian Espada is chairperson of the activity, the press release said.

Iloilo Gov. Niel Tupas will give an inspirational message during the opening program.

Resource persons will be Chi-Chi Fajardo Robles, founding member of the Creative Media Professionals Guild of Asia and the Pacific, and RPN 9 Executive Jose Maria Carlos, who will discuss Mass Media Challenges and Media in Asia, respectively.

Also invited to speak at the conference are StarLife Editor Allen Del Carmen, who will discuss "What Makes the Visayan DAILY STAR Shine Daily" and Diosa Labiste of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, who will talk on "The State of Mass Media in Western Visayas," the press release said. Lawyer Raul Anlocotan, chief economic specialist of the National Economic and Development Authority, will speak on "Mass Media and Economics," it added.*

Salon to mark first year

The O. Fisher Salon & Spa in Bacolod City will celebrate its first anniversary Sunday, a press release from the company said yesterday.

A special discount between 10 and 50 percent will be given to customers from March 6 to 8, it also said.
