300 Negrenses receive
CLOAs from PENRO
BY RENE GENOVE

About 300 residents of Oriental Negros were given certificate of land ownership awards by the national government through its "Handog Titulo Alay ng Pangulo" program held in Valencia town, last week.

The land distribution rites was spearheaded by Provincial Environment and Natural Resources officer-in-charge Antonio Cabrido and Register of Deeds head May Flor Duka, with officials of Valencia led by Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez Jr.

The recipients of land titles were from the towns of Valencia, Bacong, Dauin and Zamboanguita, who, Gonzalez said, can now claim ownership over their lands.

The distribution of land titles is one of the items in the 10-point economic agenda of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Last month, about 250 Negrense farmers also received their CLOAs to the land they tilled within the Philippine National Oil Corporation reservation area in Valencia.

The farmers, who had been tilling the lands for decades, were entitled to own them under Presidential Proclamation No. 1413.*RG
