sweep eliminations

West Negros College hammered Eastern Visayas State University, 92-69, yesterday to complete a five-game sweep in the eliminations of bracket A of the 60th National Students Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championships at the Ibalon Centrum Recreation Gym in Legazpi City, Bicol.

The Mustangs earned the top seed in bracket A entering into the quarterfinal round with a 5-0 slate after scoring a resounding 101-72 victory over OLLC of Region VIII Wednesday night.

WNC, which reached the quarterfinals of the national event held in Dumaguete City last year, earlier posted wins against defending champion University of Perpetual Help, 62-58; Calayan Education Foundation, 92-66, and Aquinas University, 101-62.

Probac, Buddy's pull
off quarterfinal wins

Fifth-ranked squads Probac and Buddy's kept their title hopes alive with contrasting victories Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the 6th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

With five players in double-figures, Probac overwhelmed Po's Panasonic, 91-77, to enter the second phase of the quarterfinals where it will meet top-ranked New ST Marketing at 7:45 tonight.

After hurdling an experienced Krua Thai squad, 87-83, Wednesday night, Buddy's will have its hands full against Talisay Basketball Athletic Club in the next round. Both New ST Marketing and TBAC hold twice-to-beat advantages.

Prisaa directors to
asses Games

The board of directors of the National Private Schools and Athletics Association will meet in Iloilo City today to evaluate the hosting of the recent National PRISAA Games.

The board of directors will assess the performance of Pangasinan as the host of the National PRISAA Games from Feb. 5 to 11, Roger Banzuela, chairman of the Western Visayas PRISAA technical committee, said.

Banzuela, who also serves as the athletic manager for the Region VI PRISAA, will attend the meeting with Fr. Emilio Jaruda, president of the Western Visayas PRISAA.
