UNO-R, Tay Tung chessers
rule Nopsscea 10-Under tilt

University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and Bacolod Tay Tung High School shared the limelight as they topped their respective divisions in the NOPSSCEA 10-Under chess competitions at the University of St. La Salle Cafeteria in Bacolod City recently.

The BTTHS woodpushers accumulated 6 match points to snatch the crown in the boys' category, while the Recoletos lady chessers scored 2 match points to claim the title.

Gerard Gelera and Shaun Tan bagged the gold medals in Boards 1 and 2, respectively, to spearhead Tay Tung's campaign, while UNO-R players Patrick Bacusa and Kervin Losaņes reigned supreme in Boards 3 and 4, respectively, to lead Recoletos in placing second with 4.5 match points.

Also composing the triumphant 10-Under boys' team of BTTHS were Raymund Ng, Chad Lim, Andreil Castro and Clyde Lim.

Tanya Chloe Rosales took the top honors in Board 1 of the girls' division to lead UNO-R's bid as Sheena Gumban brought home the gold medal in Board 2.

Also winning for Recoletos was Ryzel Mae Gasparillo when she ruled Board 4. The other member of the victorious UNO-R girls' 10-Under squad was Marie Antonette Lopez.

Ma. Isabel Asistido won the gold medal in Board 3 to lead West Negros College to place first runner-up with 1 match point. BTTHS finished second runner-up in the 10-Under girls' play.

Rounding out the top seven teams of 10-Under boys' hostilities were Trinity Christian School-A (4 points), TCS-B (2.5), WNC (2), Jack and Jill School (1.5) and USLS (.5). *CIT
