Three persons, including a student of the Negros Oriental State University, died and 19 were seriously injured when the mini-dump truck they were riding on their way home from a basketball tournament was bumped by a cargo truck Sunday night in Brgy. Canlargo, Bais City, Oriental Negros.

Another passenger, Gino Beloera, 16, single, also of the same village, succumbed to serious injuries a few minutes after arriving at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete Cyty.

Rebadomia's head hit an unidentified sharp object that pierced his skull while Silot was impaled when he landed on another sharp object.

Hospital records identified those injured who are now recuperating as Marcial Rebadomia, 17, single; Lorenzo Beloera, 39, married; Acela Mediano, 27, single; Rochelle John Bertoldo, 16, single; James Maruya, 11; Junricky Reyes, 17, single; Patricio Diano, 19, single; Roman Tunador, 23, single; Gilbert Bilimac, 14; Junrey Acar, 25, married, all residents of Cambuylao, Bais City; and Berlito Martinez, 37, married of Poblacion, also in Bais.

The driver of the mini-dump truck, Concordio Beloera, 53, married of Cambuylao, along with eight other injured passengers, was brought to the Bais District Hospital.

The Bais City-owned mini-dump truck with about 35 passengers was returning home after a basketball tournament in Brgy. Cambaguio an hour before midnight Sunday when the sugar cane cargo truck driven by Gaudencio Casido, 50, married of Brgy. Tamisu, Bais City hit its side.

The passengers were thrown to the national highway.

Casido told investigators that he had tried to avoid a warning sign on a road repair site along the national highway and ended up on the wrong side of the road, hitting the approaching mini-dump truck.*RG
