Capitol ready for pay hike

Gov. Joseph Maraņon said the Negros Occidental provincial government will pay immediately the additional P1,000 a month to its employees as soon as it gets a directive from the national government.

"If we are allowed by the Commission on Audit and the Civil Service Commission to release the additional P1,000 we will comply, we will make sure the funds are available," Maraņon said.

President Arroyo Tuesday approved the P1,000 increase in the salaries of government employees effective March 15, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2005, ABS-CBN reported.*
