Mustangs show
way to quarters
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

West Negros College ripped Aquinas University, 101-62, yesterday to book a quarterfinals berth in bracket A of the 60th National Students Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championships at the Ibalon Centrum Recreation Gym in Legazpi City, Bicol.

WNC was actually the first team to earn a quarterfinals seat in its bracket by posting its third victory in as many games after demolishing Calayan Education Foundation, 92-66, Tuesday night and nipping defending champion University of Perpetual Help, 62-58, in its opening game.

Banking on their balanced offensive attack, the Mustangs never trailed against their AU rivals after racing to a 27-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Victorias to host second leg
of age-group athletics meet

BY CHRSITIAN IRL TAN

Victorias City is being eyed to host the 2nd leg of the revived Negros Occidental Track and Field Association Age-Group Athletics Competition next month.

NOTAFA president Roger Banzuela said they are considering Victorias to host the age-group hostilities because it has a track oval and other facilities needed to stage the event.

Banzuela said he has written to Mayor Severo Palanca of Victorias to ask if the city is willing to host the 2nd leg of the athletics competitions.

20 slots available in
Gaisano 3-on-3 tilt

Twenty slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis for squads who want to compete in the Gaisano 3-on-3 basketball tournament that begins April 8 at the Gaisano City Mall Activity Center in Bacolod City.

Tournament organizer Rolando "Jack" Maraņon said team representatives will have a meeting on March 10 at the Gaisano basement area to finalize the squads competing in the 3-on-3 event.

Each team should present a receipt amounting to at least P200 worth of products bought from Gaisano and pay a P200 defaulting bond to qualify for the tournament, Maraņon, who is also the Basketball Association of the Philippines regional commissioner, said.
