La Salle, LCC gain semis

Reigning titlist University of St. La Salle posted a 25-19, 25-13 victory over La Consolacion College-Main Saturday to earn a semifinals berth in the NOPSSCEA aspirants boys' tournament at the USLS College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

Despite suffering a loss at the hands of the defending champions, the LCC-Main spikers still gained a semifinal slot by smashing Jack and Jill School-Castleson, 25-17, 25-14, Sunday.

The La Sallians will be the top seed going into the semifinals next week after sweeping its assignments in the elimination round, while LCC will be seeded second.

Entering as the third seed in the semifinal round is University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Talisay after registering a 27-25, 25-19 triumph against St. Joseph's School-La Salle Saturday. SJS-La Salle will be the fourth seed.

In aspirants girls' play, defending champion St. Scholastica's Academy outlasted St. John's Institute, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, Sunday to book a place in the semifinals.

USLS defeated St. Theresita's Academy, 25-11, 25-16, and St. Benilde School, 25-9, 22-25, 25-19, to gain a semifinal slot.

The UNO-R Talisay volleybelles also obtained a semifinal spot after crushing St. Rose of Lima School, 25-9, 25-11, Saturday and STA, 25-19, 26-24, Sunday.

LCC-Main scored a 25-23, 25-17 win over SJS-La Salle to reach the semifinals. Also advancing to the semifinal round are the lady spikers from SBS and St. Joseph's.*CIT
