Negros booters
gain nat'l finals

Negros Occidental Football Association advanced to the national PFF-National Men's Open Senior Championships yesterday, following its 1-0 victory over Cebu FA in the Visayas qualifying tournament at the Silliman University pitch in Dumaguete City.

Striker Fredrick Jan Serios scored the lone goal of the match on the 25th minute, striking a 35-yard grounder off a pass from former Philippine Team standout Bernard Rojas.

Despite the win, NOFA coach Freddie Lazarito was not satisfied with his team's performance.

Bacoleņa tops Iloilo tourney

Bacolod City standout Nikki Therese Lim Servando overcame Mindanao's top player, Stephalen Estandarte, 11-9, 11-3, Friday to win the girls' 12-Under singles crown of the 2nd Dinagyang Badminton Tournament at the Iloilo Sports Complex Gymnasium in Iloilo City.

Servando, a fifth grader at Trinity Christian School, overwhelmed her rival with stellar net play and neat placing to add another crown to her collection.

The Dinagyang event drew a total of more than 300 entries from Bacolod, Cebu, Antique, Roxas, Manila, Cagayan and Iloilo. *CPT

KT-Ice Monster
prevails in 3 OTs

Krua Thai-Ice Monster stayed focused under pressure, then, relied on Onebol Talatala in crunch time to pull off an exciting 119-118 triple overtime victory over New ST Marketing Friday night in the 6th Tan Kek Pin Cup at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Talatala scored 7 points in the third extra session, including the go-ahead basket with 5.7 ticks left that gave the Monsters enough cushion to hack out the win. Poor free throw shooting hastened New ST's defeat as it missed seven charities in the third overtime.

Bracket A action saw Panasonic-Po's Marketing repulsing YBAC, 76-73 in the first game.
