Hero's welcome set
for Pacquiao Friday
BY CEDELF P. TUPAS

Filipino boxing sensation and Bacolod's adopted son Manny Pacquiao is expected to get a hero's welcome when he arrives in Manila Friday morning, five days after his conquest of Mexican legend Erik Morales in the United States.

"I am excited to see my two kids and my countrymen and their reaction to my victory," Pacquiao said last night in an interview over ABS-CBN.

The 27-year-old Pacquiao, who earned $2 million, for fighting Morales has returned to his base in Los Angeles, after knocking out Mexican in the 10th round of their super-featherweight rematch in Las Vegas.

Also coming home Friday is Jimrex Jaca, a fighter from Sibulan, Oriental Negros, who defeated Mexican Geronimo Hernandez underneath the Morales-Pacquiao card. Aside from his improved weapons and the Cleto Reyes gloves that helped him deck Morales, Pacquiao said he simply outwitted the Mexican in their rematch.

The Filipino sensation yesterday watched his fight on television for the first time in his LA flat with members of his team.

Asked how he wants to be known, Pacquiao jokingly said: "Manny Pacquiao: The storm across the Pacific".*CPT
