Mambukal, Probac
trounce opponents

Mambukal Summer Resort and Probac opened their respective bids in the 6th Tan Kek Pin Cup Basketball Tournament with contrasting victories Monday night at the Po Hang Gym of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Ferdinand Ganba shone in the clutch, quelling a late uprising by Buddy's with a free throw conversion and a defensive gem as Mambukal posted a close 74-71 win in a Bracket A encounter. Meanwhile, Probac utilized their speed and size advantage to repulse hapless LXG, 75-59, in the second game.

Buddy's guard Tommy Andren split his charities to tie the count at 71 with 26.5 seconds, before Ganba stepped up, hitting a free throw and a steal in the ensuing play and getting fouled in the process for two more foul shots, which he made. Buddy's failed to convert a triple as time expired.

Andy Angudong led Mambukal with 15 points, including 11 in the first half, while Rex Bayer and Joseph Arenas added 11 and 10, respectively.

Tommy Andren and Francis Andren, who made 18 and 13 points, respectively, sparked Buddy's comeback, after Mambukal had taken a 54-45 lead heading into the final quarter.

Probac drew 13 points from Wendell Fernandez with Eric Uy, Carlo Diaz and Bobby Agsam combining for 25 points. *CPT
