USLS, SSA spikers
lead Nopsscea tilt

Defending champions University of St. La Salle and St. Scholastica's Academy smashed separate rivals to pace the Negros Occidental Private School Sports, Cultural and Educational Association aspirants volleyball tournament at the USLS College Covered Court over the weekend.

The La Sallians trampled Jack and Jill School-Castleson, 25-16, 25-13, and Mansilingan Christian Academy, 27-25, 25-7, Saturday before posting a 25-17, 26-24 victory over University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Talisay on Sunday to share the lead in the boys' category with La Consolacion College-Main.

St. Scholastica's Academy beat St. Joseph's School-La Salle, 25-19, 25-21, Saturday, before demolishing Trinity Christian School, 25-11, 25-11, Sunday to forge a three-way tie for the top spot of the girls' division with St. Benilde School and USLS.

The LCC-Main aspirants boys' squad registered a 25-19, 25-19 win against MCA, after crushing UNO-R Talisay, 25-22, 25-16, and St. Joseph's, 25-23, 25-14.

SJS-La Salle bounced back from its loss against LCC-Main by pounding Mansilingan, 25-14, 25-14, before hammering JJS-Castleson, 25-13, 25-20. The JJS-Castleson spikers scored an impressive 25-11, 25-23 triumph over UNO-R Talisay after a loss at the hands of La Salle and before suffering a setback at the hand of St. Joseph's.

The La Sallians also had their way in the girls' category by posting a resounding 25-8, 25-8 victory over St. Rose of Lima School, before beating UNO-R Talisay, 25-14, 25-22.

St. Benilde whipped SRLS, 25-15, 25-10, after outlasting UNO-R Talisay, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22. The SJI volleybelles breezed to victories against Trinity, 25-12, 25-8, and LCC-Main, 25-19, 25-14.

Other teams that barged into the win column of the aspirants girls' division were St. Theresita's Academy, which cruised to an easy 25-5, 25-15 win over St. Rose; LCC-Main by ripping TCS, 25-7, 25-9, and SJS-La Salle, which rallied past St. John's, 19-25, 25-13, 25-17.*CIT
