The Dumaguete City police have launched a manhunt operation against a habal-habal driver accused by his female passenger of molesting her past midnight Friday on their way to Brgy. Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City.

The complainant, whose name is being withheld, of Canlas Subdivision in Brgy. Batinguel said she boarded the habal-habal midnight Friday along Independencia Street in downtown Dumaguete City to go home.

She said she was surprised that the driver changed course and followed the route leading to Bajumpandan.

After that, he allegedly drove the motorcycle into a cornfield and stopped. Immediately, she said, the driver pulled out a knife, pointed it at her and started kissing her and fondled the different parts of her body.

Later, the woman said, the driver said he will park his motorcycle safely, but when he turned his back, she ran and called for help from nearby residents.

She managed to call for police help, but when they arrived in the area, the man and the habal-habal had disappeared.*
