An Iloilo City Regional Trial Court judge yesterday ordered the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board of Nursing to comment in 10 days on two petitions for mandamus filed against them by West Negros College graduates for their failure to release their nursing board exam results.

Iloilo RTC Branch 22 Judge Guiljie Delfin-Lim was acting on a petition filed by lawyer Nelia Jesusa Lingaya-Gonzales, one of the nursing graduates, and another filed by 145 other WNC students mostly from Iloilo, on Monday, against the PRC represented by its chairperson Dr. Leonor Tripon-Rosero and the Board of Nursing represented by its chairperson Dr. Eufemia Octaviano and its members Remedios Fernandez, Letty Kuan, and Anesia Dionisio. moremoremore

Call center opens March,
to provide 300 new jobs

Bacolod City makes a major leap in its bid to become the next IT hub in the Visayas as it opens its doors to the city's first call center in the middle of March.

Interactive Source Asia Inc., a joint venture between a Canadian-based solutions company and a group of prominent local entrepreneurs, is investing P200 million for the call center that is seen to provide jobs to more than 300 Bacoleņos this year.

Frank Lai, CD, vice president and general manager, of GoldTech Computer Telephony Inc., the Canadian partner of the venture, told the DAILY STAR yesterday they will initially put up a 100-agent call center that will offer telemarketing services and engage in inbound campaign. moremoremore

Hero's welcome set
for Pacquiao Friday

Filipino boxing sensation and Bacolod's adopted son Manny Pacquiao is expected to get a hero's welcome when he arrives in Manila Friday morning, five days after his conquest of Mexican legend Erik Morales in the United States.

"I am excited to see my two kids and my countrymen and their reaction to my victory," Pacquiao said last night in an interview over ABS-CBN.

The 27-year-old Pacquiao, who earned $2 million, for fighting Morales has returned to his base in Los Angeles, after knocking out Mexican in the 10th round of their super-featherweight rematch in Las Vegas. moremoremore
