A suspected drug personality in Dumaguete City was shot dead by
two unidentified gunmen Wednesday evening, at the national highway
in Lawisid, Banilad, Bacong, Oriental Negros.
Marlon Generoso Chavez, 33, of Zone 3, Barangay Looc in Dumaguete
sustained gunshot wounds in the head and different parts of his
body that caused his instantaneous death, initial police investigations
disclosed.
The two suspects who were on board a motorcycle were going
south and following the victim, when they pumped in several rounds
of ammunition with the use of an Ingram automatic rifle.
Bacong chief of police, Inspector Edwin Tuble, said recovered
from the crime scene were 12 empty shells of 9mm bullet, one empty
shell of a .38 caliber revolver, a Honda Wave motorcycle and a white
hat full of bullet holes.
The victim was immediately brought to the Holy Child Hospital
where he expired later.
According to the chief of police, illegal drug paraphernalia
were recovered from the victim's body.
A sachet of shabu and a tooter were also found in his underwear
by the attending physicians which were turned over by the nurse-on-duty,
Ma. Louela Alabata, to Tuble.
Police records show that Chavez had been arrested for violating
provisions of the anti-dangerous drugs law.
Eyewitnesses accounts disclosed that they only hear an automatic
burst of gunfire, but did not say who the perpetrators were
Meanwhile, two suspected drug peddlers were arrested in separate
police operations Wednesday evening in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete
City.
Arrested first at Sitio Canday-ong, Barangay Calindagan was
Stephen Ramos, who yielded a sachet of shabu and three P100 peso
bills in marked money
. Late in the evening, a certain Mario Alejado who lives in
Barangay Cadawinonan, was nabbed in Barangay Looc by elements of
the Task Force 24.
Alejado was with another drug suspect identified as Rodolfo
Baldado who scampered to different directions upon the arrival of
the police operatives.
Alejado was arrested while Baldado was able to evade the police
dragnet.
Allegedly taken from the possession of Alejado were four sachets
of shabu. On the other hand, Alejado vehemently denied ownership
of the confiscated items. He also accused a member of the raiding
team of inflicting him injuries.*
