LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Two-time world champion Manny Pacquiao, an adopted son of Bacolod City, will use his relentless style with the hope of getting a different result in his rematch with Erik 'Terrible' Morales at the Thomas and Mack Center here Saturday (8 a.m. Sunday in the Philippines).

"It's going to be a good fight. Both of us worked real hard and were going to give you a good fight," Pacquiao said during the weigh in for the 12-round super-featherweight showdown.

Army general Jogy Leo Fojas yesterday downplayed a text message being circulated by what he called "enemies of the state" stating that 80 percent of the military's junior officers will take arms against the government.

It is an attempt to create "divisiveness" among members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Fojas, commanding general of the Army's 303rd Infantry Brigade, said.

He described the text message as "plain and simple propaganda" by those who want to destabilize the government. moremoremore

Suspect in killing
of Escudero slain

A suspect in the murder of Manuel Zacharias Escudero, a grandson of Negrense planter Teresita Montilla-Araneta, was shot dead while trying to snatch a gun from a Manila policeman before dawn yesterday.

The police said killed was Martin Ong who allegedly snatched the gun of a Senior Police Officer de Leon while at the MPD Headquarters at United Nations Avenue.

Another suspect nabbed along with Ong was Leopoldo Villanueva at Tramo Rotonda in Pasay City 3 a.m. yesterday, the police said.moremoremore
