Rapist meted 8 years

A Cauayan resident was sentenced yesterday to eight years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to molesting a 4-year-old girl in Cauayan town, Negros Occidental, on Sept. 6, 2000.

Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles yesterday meted Jovit Tamin from six years minimum imprisonment to eight years as maximum considering the mitigating circumstance of his plea of guilty of rape charges.

Tamin voluntarily plead guilty on the rape charges and that his plea was voluntary on his part and not made through threats or intimidation or induced by any prize or reward, court records said.

Arles ordered that Tamin be immediately remitted to the National Penitentiary.

Meanwhile, Abner De-erit Jimenez, 30, married, of Ciocon Road, Gonzaga Street in Brgy. 26, Bacolod City was arrested by the Bacolod Intelligence and Investigation Branch in his residence at about 10 a.m. yesterday, for robbery charges, police reports said.

Senior Insp. Joeresty Coronica and his men arrested Jimenez on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Ray Allan Drilon of the Regional Trial Court Branch 41. His bail was set at P16,000 in cash, police reports said.*DMG
