Thousands line
up for Mayor Ton
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Thousands of Talisaynons lined Talisay's streets and threw flowers on the hearse that brought home the remains of Mayor Anthony Lizares yesterday morning.

Eric Saratan, who took over as Talisay mayor, said more than 5,000 people, most of whom were school children lined both sides of the road up to the Talisay City Hall to witness the arrival of the remains of Lizares.

Some residents were seen teary eyed. Lizares, 39, died from multiple organ failure caused by end stage liver disease Monday and his remains had been lying in state at the Villa Valderrama chapel in Bacolod City.

Yesterday morning the remains of the third-term mayor and former councilor was transferred to the De la Rama Hall of the Talisay City Hall where many paid their last respects.

His interment will be on Monday, after a 2 p.m. mass at the San Nicolas Tolentino Church in Talisay City.*CPG
