Secretary sentenced
to 80 years for theft

A Bacolod Regional Trial Court judge has sentenced a secretary to 80 years imprisonment for the qualified theft of nearly P2 million from her employer.

RTC Judge Gorgonio Ybañez sentenced Dionela Villacastel to double reclusion perpetua that carries 40 year- prison terms each in a decision promulgated Wednesday.

Ernesto Divinagracia, owner of Bacolod Aries Parts and General Merchandising, filed the theft complaints against Villacastel who had been his secretary. moremoremore

It's the Feast of San Sebastian today.

St. Sebastian is the patron saint of Bacolod City.

A concelebrated mass will be held at 9 a.m. today at the San Sebastian Cathedral with Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra as the main celebrant.

This year's theme is "San Sebastian Inspirasyon sang Simbahan nga Nagabag-o Tungod sang Ikaduha nga Sinodo Diocesano" (San Sebastian inspiration of the Church that was renewed because of the second Diocesan Synod).moremoremore

Thousands line
up for Mayor Ton

Thousands of Talisaynons lined Talisay's streets and threw flowers on the hearse that brought home the remains of Mayor Anthony Lizares yesterday morning.

Eric Saratan, who took over as Talisay mayor, said more than 5,000 people, most of whom were school children lined both sides of the road up to the Talisay City Hall to witness the arrival of the remains of Lizares.

Some residents were seen teary eyed. Lizares, 39, died from multiple organ failure caused by end stage liver disease Monday and his remains had been lying in state at the Villa Valderrama chapel in Bacolod City. moremoremore
