A 15-year-old fourth year high school student sustained bruises on her arms and legs early Monday night in Brgy. Cangmating, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, when she jumped off a speeding motorcycle to escape a rape attempt by the driver.

The would-have-been victim is a student of one of the universities in Dumaguete City.

The girl, whose name is being withheld, told the police that she was approaching her house and was about to enter its gate at 7 p.m. Monday when a blue Honda XRM motorcycle stopped in front of her, and announced a hold-up.

She said the man has a bonnet on and pointed a gun at her.

After threatening the girl, the hold-upper forced her into a dark area and ransacked her bag but he took nothing.

The hold-upper then ordered the girl to perform sexual acts with him, and, because of fear, she was forced to comply.

Minutes later, the girl said the suspect ordered her to go with him to one of the motels in the barangay.

Still frightened the girl again complied. But while the motorcycle was speeding at the corner of Villarosa Subdivision, she jumped off into the road bruising her legs and arms. Several persons in the area tried to catch the man, but he sped away and escaped.*
