Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue yesterday said that the
Bacolod City IT Focus Team plans to come up with a data bank of
potential workforce for IT locators that intend to open contact
center sites in Bacolod City.
Batapa-Sigue said that when the IT locators come to Bacolod,
they will ask for the data bank of potential workers. She said pre-screening
forms for applicants are now available at her office at City Hall.
Batapa-Sigue said the potential workforce include enrollees,
career shifters, OFW returnees, retirees, underemployed, unemployed
and high school graduates
She said that the IT Focus Team, created by virtue of Executive
Order No. 8 issued by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia in June 2005,
meets regularly and has conducted several activities in order to
promote Bacolod as an IT hub. She said the team is also planning
to create an online resume.
Batapa-Sigue said the Commission on Information and Communications
Technology is looking at Bacolod as a potential for 10,000 seats
by 2010. She said the IT Team is now concentrating its efforts to
strengthen local manpower pool.
She said Robinsons Metro Bacolod at Araneta Street is now
registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and has a
Presidential Proclamation for the purpose of income tax holiday.
PEZA believes that local officials who are supportive of the
move are those with long term vision because for the first three
to four years, the locators will enjoy income tax holiday, but after
four years they will remit to the local government two percent of
their gross income (in dollars) and three percent to the national
government, she added.
Meanwhile, Cyber City Teleservices, Ltd., a call center based
in Clark Field, Pampanga, is in need of qualified call center agents
for immediate hiring.
The company said in a press release that interested applicants
may bring their resume and transcript of records during the job
fair on Jan. 21 to 24 at Casa Orola Building, Rizal-Hilado streets,
Bacolod City.*CGS
