A total of 72,000 bags of rice from Vietnam arrived
in Bacolod City yesterday as part of the lean months' supply of
the National Food Authority in Negros Occidental.
NFA Provincial Manager Gil Ibarra said the supply
is part of the 600,000 bags or a total of 30,000 metric tons that
will arrive in the province for the year.
He said that during the traditional lean months
from June to August, the NFA is expected to provide 25 to 30 percent
of Negros Occidental's rice supply. 


IT Team to establish
workforce data bank
Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue yesterday
said that the Bacolod City IT Focus Team plans to come up with
a data bank of potential workforce for IT locators that intend
to open contact center sites in Bacolod City.
Batapa-Sigue said that when the IT locators come
to Bacolod, they will ask for the data bank of potential workers.
She said pre-screening forms for applicants are now available
at her office at City Hall.
Batapa-Sigue said the potential workforce include
enrollees, career shifters, OFW returnees, retirees, underemployed,
unemployed and high school graduates

grant for upgrading
of permits issuance ok'd
The German Technical Cooperation approved the grant
for the Bacolod City government's project proposal amounting to
P285,000 for the improvement of the processing of business permits.
The approval of the grant, which includes hardware,
software and wireless antenna with training component for the
city's frontliners, came after months of study, survey, workshop
and evaluation made by the group that included the Ateneo Survey
Team.
Permits and Licenses Division head Ardis Jaculina
said the team headed by Ben Arvin de la Cruz conducted a final
evaluation yesterday at the One-Stop-Shop at the Bays Center in
Bacolod and noted a reduction in the city's processing procedure
from 27 steps to 15.
