Feeding drive
to be launched

Another supplemental feeding program under the Project Iggy of Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th district) will be launched at the 5th congressional district soon.

It will focus on the identified 600 severely malnourished children in 19 barangays and will be facilitated by the solon's wife, Aleli, in coordination with the local government units, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the local nutrition councils, a press release from Arroyo's office said yesterday.

In the six-month program, beneficiaries will be fed with hotmeals and powdered food as well as fresh milk.

Arroyo has allocated P1 million for the supplemental feeding program from his congressional funds and stressed that, through it, children will be given proper nutrition to ensure their brain development and healthy body, the press release said.

Last year, Arroyo had also conducted a supplemental feeding program in four pilot barangays at the 5th district covering about 400 malnourished children who have notably improved based on their weight monitoring report, the press release added*
