Police release sketch
of suspect in holdup

Bacolod City police director, Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, yesterday released the cartographic sketch of one of three persons who allegedly held up a cashier and driver of the Sargaso Construction and Development Corp. at Burgos Street, Brgy. 18, Bacolod City, Thursday.

Merced said Renato Deramon Estrella, 45, single, of Purok Maanyag, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, driver of the Nissan pick-up of the firm was able to provide information for the sketch of the man who poked him with a gun during the hold up. The unidentified suspect is between 30 to 35 years old, of medium built and has brown complexion. He stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds, Merced said.

The suspect also speaks Ilonggo. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and was armed with a gun at the time of the incident, Merced added. On Thursday, cashier Marietta Pillone Labis, 51, married, of Purok Kabuhi, Brgy. 10, reported to Police Precinct 2 that she withdrew P114,00 in cash from the Land Bank of the Philippines and along with Estrella was on the way to their office when the incident occurred, the police report said.

The hold-uppers took Labis' bag with P114,000 in cash intended for the salaries of the firm's employees, her own money of P10,500 in cash and other personal belongings. Estrella also lost his Nokia 3350 cellphone and P5,700 in cash, the police report said.

Bystanders told the police that three persons on a motorcycle arrived at Burgos-Lacson streets ahead of Estrella and Labis, which is now being validated by the police, Merced said.

He said the cartographic sketch will also be posted in conspicuous areas in Bacolod City adding that the arrest of the person in the sketch will lead to the identities of his companions.*DMG
