Two women lost their cash and jewelry to unidentified persons in separate robbery hold-up and bag slashing incidents in Bacolod City yesterday.

Mary Jessica Guzman Lanada, of Lot 7, Block 13, Villa Soledad, Sta. Fe in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, told the DAILY STAR, she was standing beside the Keppel Bank at the corner of Rizal and San Juan streets in Bacolod City when four unidentified persons, including two women, blocked her and forcibly grabbed her bag at about 10 a.m. yesterday.

When she resisted, Lanada said one of the suspects poked a gun at her 3-year-old son and threatened to shoot him if she would not give them her money.

The suspects took her P9,000 in cash and jewelry worth P50,000, Lanada said, adding that she was not able to ask help from the bystanders because she was very nervous.

Meanwhile, Ada Rafols Bautista, 49, widow, of Gold Crest Subdivision, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, also reported to Police Precinct 1 that her bag was slashed by a still unidentified person with a bladed weapon. Taken from her bag was P50,000 in cash at the Plaza Mart Mall in downtown Bacolod at about 3:15 p.m. yesterday, she said.

Police reports said Bautista withdrew P100,000 in cash from Allied Bank at Araneta Street and was about to cross the street when an unidentified person bumped her.

Fortunately, the suspect failed to take the other P50,000 in cash because she placed it in a separate envelope, Bautista said.

Albert Benedicto Pama of Malonse-Baybay, Brgy. Zone-5, Talisay City, also reported to Police Precinct 3 that two unidentified persons blocked him and took his P1,800 in cash at Purok Magbinuligay, Brgy. Bata, at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday, police reports said.*DMG
