16 squads in TKP tilt

Sixteen squads will compete in the 6th Tan Kek Pin Basketball Memorial Cup that will fire off at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Two games will follow the opening ceremonies that will be preceded by a parade, Stephen Tan, president of the Fil-Sino Athletic Club, said.

A meeting will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Apollo Restaurant at Hilado Street to discuss the ground rules of the tournament, announcement of players and drawing of lots, he said.

The 16 teams will be divided into two brackets, he said, adding that Paulo Ariola will act as the commissioner while Edward Ma-apni will be the assistant commissioner.

Vying for the championship will be Summit-AMG Pawnshop, New ST Marketing, Krua Thai-Supreme-Janaqua, Panasonic-Po's Mktg., Davies-Republic Hardware, Talisay Basketball Club, Your Basketball Athletic Club, PROBAC, Tangub Basketball Association, Rentas Knights, RG Purefoods, Magnolia Nutrioil, BBC, LXG, Province and Buddy Variety Store. *CIT
