A rice farm caretaker of retired Col. Billy Bibit who claimed
to be an "agent" of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group
and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,
and two of his colleagues, were arrested by Bago City policemen
yesterday, for possessing unlicensed firearms.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Hermigildo Octaviano,
a team of policemen led by Supt. Alex Belonio swooped down on a
farm house occupied by alleged ISAFP agent Ricky Murillo in Purok
Tadtad, Brgy. Balingasag, Bago City.
Belonio said the raid yielded a .45 caliber Colt pistol with
five magazines containing 37 live bullets, a .357 magnum revolver
with one bullet and empty shell, and a .38 caliber revolver with
five bullets and 11 empty shells.
It also led to the arrest of Murillo who also claimed to be
an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation, and his two companions
identified as Jojo Tanda, 24, and his elder brother, Wilfredo, 29.
Belonio said the arrested suspects failed to present any document
allowing them to possess the firearms.
Charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition
are expected to be filed today before the Bago City Prosecutor's
Office against Murillo and his two companions who are now in jail.
The confiscation of three firearms brought to 15 the number of
guns accounted for by the Negros Occidental police since last week
after 12 Valladolid residents also surrendered 12 unlicensed firearms
and a fragmentation grenade to Senior Inspector Rico Santotome.*GPB
