3 NegOr mayors protest
use of new bus terminal

At least three mayors from southern Oriental Negros are expected to raise the issue of the controversial implementation of the integrated southbound terminal in Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City.

Valencia Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez Jr. said, aside from the main topic to be discussed during the meeting of the league of municipalities in Oriental Negros Friday, the new terminal scheme in Dumaguete will also be taken up.

Gonzalez said as part of the Metro Dumaguete concept, local chief executives of Bacong and Valencia should also be consulted on the issue, including Dauin, where the proposed dumpsite is to be located.

He suggested that all public utility jeepneys would still be allowed to unload and load passengers in their previous pre-departure areas.

But they should not be allowed to stay more than three minutes, and should go back to the Bagacay terminal, he said.

In this way, expenses and inconvenience of students, businessmen and the public will be reduced.*JG
