Woman loses P96T
in daylight heist

A 27-year-old woman from Sibulan town now residing in Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, lost about P96,000 in cash and jewelry to robbers in a broad daylight heist in Brgy. Calindagan yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Chaty Cumayao, 27, single, of Purok 5, Barangay Cangmating in Sibulan but residing in Barangay Mangnao, Dumaguete.

Cumayao said she was returning from Sibulan to her boarding house in Mangnao at past 3 p.m. yesterday on the backseat of a motorcycle driven by a friend.

Thirty minutes later, she said, she and her friend arrived in Calindagan and were heading for Mangnao when a Honda Dream 125 motorcycle with two unidentified riders overtook them and blocked their way.

She said her friend was forced to stop the motorcycle while, at the same time, the Honda Dream also stopped and the backrider alighted.

The backrider moved fast toward them and declared a hold-up that forced her to hand over her cellphone, jewelry, and wallet.

Cumayao said the hold-up men took away her Japanese gold necklace with pendant worth P35,000, Italian gold earrings worth P5,000, two engagement rings worth P37,000, her Nokia 6260 cellphone worth P17,000, and P4,000 in cash.*
