Gov. George Arnaiz has called on the leadership of newly installed
Philippine National Police director in Oriental Negros, Sr./Supt.
Melvin Ramon Buenafe, to continue purging the "bad eggs" and misfits.
The also warned them of repercussions if found to be in cahoots
with drug peddlers and drug personalities.
Arnaiz made the challenge during the courtesy call of all
chiefs of police of the province held recently at the PNP provincial
headquarters in Agan-an, Sibulan, Oriental Negros.
The governor has called on the police to "deal with criminal
elements the hard way" but within the bounds of law. He said he
is renewing his support to the police in combating the proliferation
of illegal drugs and other forms of criminality in the province.
He said fighting criminality and insurgency needs money, so
he also urged local government units to do their share in achieving
a peaceful place to live in.
For his part, Buenafe told his men in front of the governor
to perform to the best of their abilities while transforming and
reforming.
Buenafe thanked the governor for his dedication to public service.
This year's courtesy call was different from previous courtesy calls
because, instead of the policemen going to the governor's office,
Arnaiz had preferred to come to the provincial headquarters for
the traditional meeting.*
