'Some soldiers affected
by charges vs. officials'

BRGY. MINOYAN, Murcia - Marine Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Teodosio yesterday admitted that some soldiers in the Visayas have been affected by accusations and exposes hurled against the military leadership by those who want to destabilize the government.

"I will not be telling the truth if they are not affected," Teodosio, commanding general of the Central Command in Visayas, said.

Two senior military officers linked to the controversial " Hello Garci" tape scandal - Maj. Gen. Gabriel Habacon and Rear Admiral Tirso Danga - were named commanders of Southern Command in Mindanao and Western Command in Palawan, respectively, which drew objections from opposition legislators.

Disgruntled Col. Efren Daquil earlier sought an explanation from the Philippine Air Force leadership on how the P30 million in savings in its personnel office was spent. Teodosio, outgoing CENCOM chief, said " individually, they may have been affected. We have thinking and also feeling soldiers". But because of the discipline and culture that we have in the military, they are able to "control their personal feelings", he added.

However, he added, "our unit commanders are in control of their respective units. The chain of command in the AFP is intact and our soldiers remain to be professional and they know where they stand".

Teodosio is retiring on Jan. 21. He will be replaced by Lt. Gen. Abraham Bagasin. GPB
