TP FINALIZE SCHEDULE OF COMPETITIONS

The National Private Schools and Athletics Association Board will conduct a meeting at 10 a.m. at the Leno Hotel in Dagupan City, Pangasinan today to finalize the staging of the National PRISAA Games.

Fr. Emilio Jaruda, president of the Western Visayas PRISAA, said the meeting will include the updating of the corporate sponsors who will fund the event and the remittance for the national tilt. The National PRISAA Board will also plan on the opening ceremonies of the games, he added.

The finalization of the event's schedule will also be part of the agenda, Roger Banzuela, chairman of the Region VI PRISAA technical committee, said.

The National PRISAA Games is set from Feb. 5 to 11, but there is also a possibility that it will be moved to April because it would be difficult to organize a school-based meet during schooldays, Banzuela, who also serves as the Western Visayas PRISAA athletic manager, said.

A memorandum regarding the deadline of submission of entries and the final calendar of events among others has yet to be forwarded with less than a month before the desired schedule, but the Region VI athletes have already readied their documents, he said.

About 213 athletes and officials will compose the Western Visayas contingent that brought home the overall championship of the National PRISAA Games in Zamboanga City last year.

Around P1.7 million will also be needed by the Region VI standouts to compete in the National PRISAA Games with the bulk of the expenses going to the transportation, Banzuela said. *CIT
