Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, Bacolod City police director, yesterday
released the cartographic sketch of one of the alleged members of
the "bonnet gang" who reportedly abducted and molested a female
college student in front of Robinson's Place in Bacolod City on
Jan. 3.
Merced said the complainant was able to identify the person
in the sketch as the driver of the white L-300 van because he was
not wearing a bonnet at the time.
The suspect, whose name is not known to the police yet, is
between 17 and 22 years old, is small and skinny, and has fair complexion.
He stands about 5 feet and 5 to 9 inches tall and weighs about 120
pounds, Merced said.
He also said the suspect, believed to be a student, speaks
English and Ilonggo fluently. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with
a Superman logo on it at the time of the incident, he added.
Merced said he is appealing to those who can identify the
suspect and know of his whereabouts to report immediately to the
nearest police station, dial police patrol hotline 116, or call
him at 0917-7015588.
Meanwhile, Philip Pecache, National Bureau of Investigation-Bacolod
chief, said they are also conducting a parallel investigation on
the "bonnet gang" issue in coordination with the police.
Pecache said an intelligence report recently received by his
office revealed that the "bonnet gang" who abducted the student
in front of Robinson's Place on Jan 3., is of a different age group
from the "bonnet gang" that hit Bacolod City two years ago.
It is possible that this younger "bonnet gang" is not involved
in any other criminal activity aside from the alleged abduction
and molestation of the college student, Pecache said.
The abduction is an isolated case and the public has nothing to
fear, he added. Pecache said intelligence reports show that one
of the suspects was a stalker of the complainant.*DMG
