RPA linked to slay try
of cockfarm watchman
A cock farm watchman yesterday claimed he was almost
salvaged by alleged members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex
Boncayao Brigade in Murcia, Negros Occidental, on suspicions that
he was a thief.
Complainant Elmer Toreja, alias Dodoy, who sought
refuge at the Murcia Police Station, alleged that he taken at gunpoint
by about 10 to 12 RPA members led by a certain Joshua from the cock
farm of Newton Flores, on Wednesday night in Brgy. Alegria, Murcia.
Toreja, in his sworn statement, said he was brought
and subjected to interrogations by his abductors to Sitio Cabulutongan,
Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City, for the series of ransacking of gamefowl
farms in Murcia and Bacolod City, Murcia police chief Simeon Gane
said.
While undergoing tactical interrogation, Toreja,
in an interview with Bombo Radyo, also claimed he was also mauled
and hit with a rifle by his abductors. He however said he was able
to escape from his abductors and was not hit even when they fired
at him.
Gane said Toreja who was previously charged and
convicted for theft and illegal possession of firearms, had already
served his sentence and managed to work in the cock farm of Flores
in Brgy. Alegria, Murcia later.
Gane said they are preparing criminal complaints

One
of 10 'most wanted'
in province apprehended
A farm worker who is wanted for double frustrated
homicide in relation to RA 7610, or the Child Abuse Act, was arrested
Wednesday by operatives of the Regional Intelligence Office 6 in
Molo district of Iloilo City.
Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez yesterday identified
the arrested person as Jim Mayang, a farm worker-resident of Sitio
Embalcadero, Brgy. 1 poblacion, Ilog, Negros Occidental.
Gutierrez said Mayang is among the 10-most wanted
persons in Negros Occidental.
He said Mayang was responsible for the stabbing
of two minors at the Ilog plaza in February 2004, and the motive
for it is not known until now.
Mayang, a probationer who was charged previously
for a similar complaint, was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant
issued by Ilog Judge Victor Magahud, police investigations show.
Mayang was turned over by RIO 6 operatives to
the Ilog Police Station for detention.
Last week, Jolito Pandacan who is facing murder charges
and was denied bail by Judge Henry Arles, was also arrested by the
police during the weekend in Brgy. Tabunan, Ilog. *GPB

PDEA nabs
man for
shabu possession
A drug suspect was arrested Wednesday in a buy-bust
operation that yielded a sachet of suspected shabu and several drug
paraphernalia at Rizal Street, Brgy. 22, Bacolod City.
Ogie Ledona, later identified as Roger Davao
Ledona, was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency provincial
office team led by Insp. Joemarie Occeño for violation of sections
5,11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous
Drug Act of 2002, police reports said.
Ledona's residence was searched on the strength
of a warrant issued by Judge Napoleon Diamante, of the Municipal
Trial Court in Cities, Branch 3, police reports said.
Recovered from Ledona were a small sachet of
suspected shabu weighing about .02 grams, two P100 bills in marked
money, an improvised tooter, a small sliced aluminum foil, three
pairs of scissors, P1,000 in cash believed to be proceeds of the
illegal sale of shabu and a Nokia 6610 cellphone, police reports
said.
Meanwhile, Insp. Sergio Pormento, deputy commander
of Police Precinct 1 also arrested Jarry Patrimonio, 26 and Algie
Ramos, 18, both of Dawis, Brgy. 14, in the city who were caught
in the act while having a marijuana pot session in the barangay
at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, police reports said. Recovered from
them were lighters and a marijuana stick, it added.
Ledona, Patrimonio and Ramos are now detained
in the lock-up cell of Police Precinct 1.*DMG
