Grenades lobbed
at Indian's house

Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, Bacolod City police director, said yesterday that the person who threw two M-26 fragmentation grenades at a residence of an Indian national at Villa Angela Subdivision in Brgy. Villamonte last week, was also his compatriot with whom he had a personal grudge.

On Thursday, Indian national Sukdev Singh, of Phase 1, Lawaan Road at Villa Angela Subdivision reported to Police Precinct 4 that his housemaid found two M-26 fragmentation grenades in their compound while she was cleaning the area.

Bacolod police bomb expert Denny Montoya told the DAILY STAR yesterday that Singh, who rented the house from a certain Michael Yu, told him his house was hit with a bullet allegedly from a .45 caliber pistol Wednesday evening. He reported the incident to Police Precinct 4 the next day.

He said the grenade thrown at the compound of Singh was wrapped in a masking tape with threatening words written on it.

The other grenade was found near the gate. However it was not recovered because an unidentified trisikad driver took it, Montoya said.

He said the grenade is now in his custody and will be used as evidence in the filing of charges against the suspect.*DMG
