About 190 Oriental Negros employees from the different departments
underwent the 28-hour program in Word/Excel while 26 technical men,
mostly engineers and draftsmen were taught the Computer Aided Design
for 40 hours in 2005 in a program that was implemented beginning
last year and will be continued this year.
The personnel officer of the Capitol, Daisy Vamenta, said
the program will be strengthened to improve the competence, efficiency
and effectiveness of its personnel.
With their knowledge of CAD, the engineers and draftsmen will
be making designs using the computer, thus, improving their efficiency.
She said the province spent only about P177,960 for the program
which was assisted by trainers from the Technical Education, Skills
and Development Authority. Classes were held outside office
hours, and sometimes during weekends.
This year, Vamenta said the provincial government will design
another module to upgrade the knowledge of those who have completed
the program.
The program included doctors and elected local officials, and
one of them was Vice Governor Jose Baldado.*RA
