BI agrees to monitor
aliens' entry to NegOr

The Oriental Negros provincial government and the Bureau of Immigration have agreed to cooperate in monitoring aliens who enter the province on board their yachts that are usually moored in Tambobo Bay in Barangay Siit, Siaton, a town about 50 kilometers south of Dumaguete City.

This came after Gov. George Arnaiz said that nobody is monitoring these aliens.

"We do not know if these foreigners are carrying illegal products or contrabands," Arnaiz said.

During a meeting between Arnaiz and Serafin Abellon, the intelligence chief of the BI in Region 7 late last week, it was agreed that the provincial government and the BI will work together to address the concern.

The two officials agreed in to coordinate with each other in monitoring the Tambobo Bay, particularly on the entry of aliens on yachts.

Arnaiz also said that he has already requested the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to enact a legislative measure that will allow the province to generate income from these aliens.

Arnaiz also offered the BI a space for its office to strengthen its operation in the province.*RA
