Six guerilla units of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army are operating in the entire Negros Island, Philippine National Police provincial director, Sr. Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe. said yesterday.

Buenafe said three of the Larangan Guerilla fronts are in the Oriental side and the remaining ones are in Negros Occidental.

The Larangan Guerilla 1, which is operating from Canlaon City down to La Libertad town has an estimated strength of 29 armed members and 130 CPP members.

LG-2 from La Libertad to Bindoy and Manjuyod towns has 25 fully armed rebels and 40 CPP members while LG-6 that is operating in the south has at least 20 members.

Even with the absence of an anti-terrorism law, NPA members who commit violations of existing laws can still be prosecuted by changing them in court, Buenafe said.*JG
