An ethnic performance open to the public called "Dagway
Negrosanon: Paghanduraw sang Katutubong Kulturang Negrense" will
be held today at the University of St. La Salle Integrated School
in the afternoon and at 7 p.m. at Draft Bar, in Bacolod City.
The event will feature Ilonggo Etniko, a collaboration
of various musicians, artists and poets from Negros who will portray
ethnic culture, a press release from organizers said yesterday.
The show aims at re-introducing the diminishing
ethnic culture of the country, specifically music, dances and personality.
Various songs, dances and music will introduce indigenous instruments,
poetry and paintings, it said.
Negros is one of the remaining islands in the
country with rich natural resources, and where a few remaining tribes
can be found. However, the modern world pushes the already fragile
ethnic minority away from their ancestral domains without knowing
their music, arts, dances and language, which Dagway Negrosanon
aims to bring back and protect, organizers said in the press release.
Dagway Negrosanon is organized by Green Alert
Negros, Peacenet, Katilingban Ilonggo Kalinga Kalikasan Mountaineers,
Solar Generation Youth and Balayan-La Salle and Draft Bar.
Those interested in the show may call Tess Gonzales
at tel. no. 0917788094 or Albert Lozada (09162283940) for more details,
the press release added.*
