Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Maraņon yesterday said
he has issued an executive order reorganizing the Panaad sa Negros
Festival committee.
The festival is a thanksgiving celebration that
showcases the best of the province in terms of its rich history,
culture and arts, trade, commerce and industry, tourism and investment
potentials, through the theme pavilions of various cities and towns
as well as their programs, activities and special events, he said.
To ensure the smooth and successful implementation
of the event dubbed the "Festival of All Festivals" in the province,
there is a need to create the different committees that will facilitate
the overall planning, implementation, coordination, and supervision
of various programs and events of the festival, Maraņon said in
Executive Order 06-001.
The EO states that the Executive Committee is
chaired by Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco. Members are Board Member Edgardo
Acuņa - chairman, Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Trade and
Tourism, and Nestor Jalandoni Jr. - president, Pag-ugyon Negros
Foundation Inc.
The action officer is Ma. Lina Sanogal and
secretariat head is Anna Marie Lucasan.
Heads of the working committees are Finance - Percival
Salado Jr.; Publicity, Marketing and Documentation - Public Information
Division, Office of the Governor; Secretariat and Events Marketing
- Public Affairs Division; Reception and Tours - Jennylind Cordero;
Security, Law Enforcement, Traffic Management and Emergency Response
- Orlando Jundos, Eric Villaluna, and the 303rd Brigade of the Philippine
Army; Medical Services/Clinic - Dr. Ernell Tumimbang (PHO-Clinic);
Physical Arrangement, Electrical and Ground maintenance - Ian de
Ramos, Lucille Pines and Leoncio Garrucho.*

tilt set Jan. 13 in Kanbankalan
The Kabankalan Sinulog Pageant 2006 to be held Jan.
13 at the city hall grounds of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental,
will be hosted by movie and television personality Dominic Ochoa
and co-hosted by Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa, a mainstay of ABS-CBN Bacolod's
"Amiga" show.
Twelve candidates will vie for the Sinulog Queen
crown that will take center stage at the two-level, 20-meter grass
green stage, a Kabankalan press release said yesterday.
Past Sinulog Queens, including Kashika General
who won last year and was first runner-up in the Lin-ay sg Negros
2005 Pageant, and other Sinulog activities will be presented.
The K-City Band will provide live music.
The talent and tribal costume competitions set Jan.
9 will be held at the city plaza, the press release added.*
