Belicena named Neg. Occ.
superintendent of schools
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negros Occidental and Silay Schools Divisions have new superintendents.

Education Undersecretary Ramon Bacani has named Eva Belicena, who heads the Division of Silay City, superintendent of the Negros Occidental Schools Division.

Emolyn Corteza, who is currently the head of the Division of Negros Occidental, has in turn been named superintendent of the Silay Division, Bacani said in a letter to Dr. Victorino Tirol Jr., DepEd regional director, a copy of which was furnished Gov. Joseph Maraņon.

In the same letter, Bacani named Eveleth Gamboa, education supervisor I, as officer-in-charge of the office of the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent in the Division of Capiz.

The reassignments are effective immediately.

Earlier Gov. Joseph Maranon had sought the replacement of Corteza as Negros Occidental Schools Superintendent. Maraņon said she suffered mobility problems after a stroke that made if difficult to carry out her job.

Corteza, on the other hand, said that, before Maraņon's request for her transfer, she had already had asked for a reassignment.

Maraņon had earlier said that among those mentioned to head the Negros Occidental Schools Division aside from Belicena were Superintendents Mildred Garay of Sagay and Milgaros Gonzales of Bacolod City.

Maraņon said his personal choice was Belicena because she had been in the service for a long time, but the decision was really up to the DepEd.*CPG
