MANILA - The Philippine government will privatize two state-run
television stations in the first half of the year, the Privatization
and Management Office said yesterday.
The sale of IBC-13 and RPN-9 television stations will take
place separately between March and May, the PMO said in a statement,
naming CLSA Exchange Capital Inc. as its lead advisor in the sale.
It did not say how much the government expects from the sale
but the finance department has said that it has set a conservative
target of P500 million in revenue from privatizing state assets
this year.
It raised about P8.3 billion from asset sales in 2005.*AFP
